Published by Whittaker, Treacher, & Co, London, 1833. First edition of a collection of papers which were first published in The Atheneum (a British literary magazine), the previous year. First edition is uncommon.
A very good hardback, rebound in later purple cloth with title label to spine. Cover is in fine condition. Previous owner's signature to free endpaper, with impression from that inscription being lightly visible on the title page.
Text is very good and soundly bound. There are exposed glue marks at the inner joint before title page, and there is occasional age spotting, but infrequent. Shiny gilt edges to text block. A fairly uncommon book.
