An Act for Repairing the Road from the Powder-Mills on Hounslow Heath, in the County of Middlesex, to a Place called Basing-Stone, near the Town of Bagshot, in the Parish of Widlesham, in the County of Surrey. Anno primo Georgii II. Regis. 1728 ( 1 Geo. II, St. 2, c. 6).

This is an Act of Parliament extract (20 pages), which has been bound along its edge as a stand-alone pamphlet style document. From the first year of the reign of George II, with the Royal Coat of Arms to the cover.

This Act forms part of the early development of Britain’s turnpike and road-improvement system, reflecting Parliament's increasing involvement in the regulation and maintenance of key transport routes during the early Georgian period. The stretch of road covered - linking Hounslow Heath with Bagshot - was an important thoroughfare on the western approaches to London, frequently used by military traffic, mail coaches, and commercial carriers.

ESTC records this Act as part of the official statutes of 1 Geo. II (1727–28), where it is held in multiple institutional collections bound within statute volumes. Survival as a complete, separately bound Act-offprint is markedly less common.

Printed by John Baskett, Printer to the King's most Excellent Majesty; and Thomas Norris, Assigned to George Hills, 1728.
