A remarkable carved and painted teak puppet head, Burma

Painted white overall, with details highlighted in red and black paint, the eyes inlaid with quartz, the mouth hinged, the headdress with tapering chignon.

This was once part of a colossal puppet in terms of size, perhaps depicting a Nat, or nature spirit.

This item is closely associated with item A04031.

Dimensions: 51cm (20in) x 22 cm wide x 20 cm deep. Height including base = c. 65cm. Base width = c. 26cm.
