Antique Burmese Sculpture, JB1.

A very interesting old wooden sculpture from Burma. We know very little about this piece - very unusual and one which we really have not seen the like before. We believe it is likely that this will be a Burmese hill tribe piece probably used as part of their animist belief system whereby this image would represent a living spirit of the landscape or objects which are part of the people's daily lives.

We wish we knew more. It has a passing resemblance to Japanese Daruma sculptures. A fascinating and unique object.
