Ben-Hur or The Days of the Messiah, Lew Wallace, c. 1906.
SOLD
Published by George Routledge and Sons, London. Undated but c. 1906 (from inscription on first pastedown). The first publication of this novel was in 1880.
A very good red cloth hardback with very attractive printed cover design, enhanced by gilt. Mild cover wear. Prize presentation copy with inscription to first pastedown. Cover page and p11-12 are age toned (due to being on a thinner paper stock to the bulk of the book). Otherwise, text is nice and clean throughout. Edges of text block are a bit grubby (particularly the top edge), but are acceptable. Soundly bound. An uncommon cover design.
An attractive copy of the book made famous by Hollywood, based around life in Judea during the time of Jesus Christ and the Roman Empire.
458pp.
