Burlington Fine Arts Club, Catalogue of a Collection of Objects of Chinese Art, Illustrated Catalogue of Chinese Art, Privately printed for the Burlington Fine Arts Club 1915.
Extremely rare private printing.
Printed by Chiswick Press, Charles Whittingham & Co, London.
This deluxe volume is an outstanding publication of the highest quality. This large hardback is clothbound in blue, with gilt lettering to spine and cover. The cover has significant discoloration - cause unknown - to front and back, although spine is largely unaffected. Otherwise the cover is actually very good indeed. First and last endpaper spreads have some discoloration also.
Otherwise the text is in fine condition throughout - both the written content and plates. The text is printed on a high quality heavy stock. Gilt edge to top of text pages. Binding is still completely sound.
Overall it is in remarkably good condition for a book of this age - early Burlington catalogues like this are more often found in a poor state.
Beautifully printed throughout. lv + 107pp + 56 full page plates, all guarded with paper.
The full page plates are fabulous, showcasing a wide variety of the artworks on display including ivory, enamel, jade, bronze and many snuff bottles.
This is a rare and highly sought after publication.
Dimensions:
