This is a beautifully produced volume with 100 stunning colour plates (see photographs).

This is a first edition of the French edition presumed to be printed in 1928 as the English version was in 1927. Book is undated. This is an uncommon large volume which tends to be a bit overlooked due to the high desirability and value of some of R L Hobson's other limited edition volumes on Chinese Art of a more monographic nature, but we believe that this book will become more and more desirable over coming years.

Yellow cloth cover with gilt lettering to spine. No dustjacket. Very good condition with some general wear and bumping. Text is very good to near fine. Plates are beautiful. the frontispiece plate has a metallic gold background and all plates are protected with printed tissue guards with descriptions in English, French and German. Paper is a high quality thick stock.
