A powerful and visually dramatic Chinese Cultural Revolution-period propaganda poster centred on themes of national self-reliance, civil defence, and revolutionary preparedness during the heightened political tensions of the late 1960s. The composition depicts militant workers and peasants raising Mao's "Little Red Book", accompanied by anti-imperialist imagery and revolutionary slogans including:

深挖洞 广积粮 不称霸
("Dig deep tunnels, store abundant grain, and never seek hegemony")

and:

备战、备荒、为人民
("Prepare for war, prepare for famine, for the people")

The imagery reflects the atmosphere of mobilisation and ideological militancy which characterised the later Cultural Revolution period, particularly amid fears of international conflict and the emphasis placed upon national self-sufficiency. The poster also includes the slogan:

打倒美帝
("Down with American imperialism")

further reinforcing its strongly political and anti-Western message.

Produced in a bold graphic propaganda style with vivid red and yellow colouring, the composition combines revolutionary workers, socialist symbolism, and dramatic visual energy in a manner highly characteristic of Mao-era political art.

Printed in colour on thin paper stock, likely dating from the late 1960s or early 1970s. We cannot verify the exact printing date - whether this was actually printed in that brief period or a later printing.

Overall condition is very good for a poster printed on fairly thin paper stock. Some light edge wear and minor signs of age. Colours remain bold and strong. A clean and highly displayable example overall.

Text in Chinese.

Approximate dimensions: approximately 735mm x 518mm.

A striking and historically evocative example of Chinese Cultural Revolution propaganda art, particularly notable for its strong militaristic imagery and classic Mao-era political slogans.
