A very rare copy of the 1726 first edition of this book.
Perhaps timely as The Gray Friars have received a lot of attention in the news recently with their connection with the discovery of the buried body of Richard the Third. This book contains reference to Richard the Third... in the entries for 1485 the book refers to:
"...King Richard the Third (or rather the Duke of Gloucester) having waded through a Flood of Royal Blood to the Throne of England, was kill'd, this Year, on the 22th of August, at Bosworth-Fight, in Leicestershire, and carried off the Field of Battle in an inglorious and indecent Manner (being laid all naked a-cross the back of a Horse) to Leicestershire, from whence he came but the Day before with the greatest Pomp and Magnificence, and was there buried, dishonourably, in the Church of the Gray Friers, after he had usurp'd the Crown for Two years and two Months...."
