A very good full leather hardback. Brown polished calf. Spine with raised bands, red morocco label and gilt decoration. With prize presentation plate to first pastedown from Glasgow School of Art and Haldene Academy. Prize for 'Wall decoration'. The recipient being 'William Pratt', in 1875.
Provenance: William Pratt studied at Glasgow School of Art and Academie Julien. He exhibited at the Royal Academy, Paris Salon Royal Academy, and the Royal Scottish Academy, amongst others. He was a talented and highly respected artist, particularly known for his scenes of country life.
Covers with light bumping, scuffing, and wear to extremities and spine. A handsome book. Soundly bound. Marbled endpapers. Some light spotting to endpapers. One offset page marker stain to gutter. Text is bright and clean throughout and all edges of text block are finished in red.
