Rare complete set of Osvald Siren's definitive work of the time on the history of Chinese art.

Published Les Editions G. van Oest, Paris and Brussels, 1929-1930.

Consists of 4 large softback volumes as issue. Covers are red paper with black lettering. Some wrapped around boards. Each volume has a substantial text section with line illustrations followed by many pages of high quality full page black and white plates. All printed on heavy quality paper stock.

The 4 volumes are:

1. La Periode Prehistorique. L'epoque Tcheou. L'epoque Tch'ou et Ts'in. vi+96pp+108 plates.

2. L'epoque Han. Les Six Dynasties. 121pp + 120 plates.

3. La Sculpture de L'epoque Han a L'epoque Ming. 107pp + 128 plates.

4. L'architecture. 104pp + 120 plates.

Good condition overall. Covers are a bit shelf worn and rubbed and have some minor damages to spine as can be seen from the photographs. Text is very good overall - clean and bright with almost no foxing, save a little bit near endpapers. Some pages still uncut.

An important, desirable collection.

A heavy set - each volume approx 2.5kg unpacked.
