A very attractive Japanese Lacquerware Tray. Made for export - probably c. 1930s. Very unusual and beautiful design.
A really stunning handmade tray - carved intricately on the front with 9 x floriate compartments on a background of foliage. Coloured in a deep reddish brown with red highlights. The background colour transitioning to black on the reverse.
The compartments are designed to be flat enough to hold items such as tea cups.
In excellent condition on the front. The reverse has general wear and small scratches.
