Karl Marx; Capital; A Critical Analysis of Capitalist Production; Translated from the Third German Edition, 1896
An early English edition of the first volume of Karl Marx's Capital, complete in one volume, in the translation by Samuel Moore and Edward Aveling, edited by Friedrich Engels. A landmark of economic and political thought, the work examines commodities, labour, surplus value and the accumulation of capital, drawing extensively on conditions in nineteenth-century British industry. This 1896 fifth edition retains its original publisher's green cloth and comes from the library of economic historian Vincent Barnett, author of Marx (2009), with his bookplate and ownership signature.
