Palmerston, by Philip Guedalla. An illustrated Biography of Henry John temple, 3rd Viscount Palmerston (1784-1865), who was British Prime Minster twice. As well as the Plates, it contains a rather unusual 6pp facsimile letter bound in.

A good hardback with burgundy leather spine and corners, with gilt decoration and maroon linen cloth over boards. Raised bands to spine. With minor scuffing and wear. Hinges of spine are worn and splitting at head and tail.
Previous owner's inscription to first free endpaper. Marbled endpapers. Text is very good throughout - bright and clear. Frontispiece House of Commons engraving has a printed tissue guard identifying the participants. The guard with closed tear at top edge. gilt top edge to text block and vertical edge is age spotted.
