A very attractive binding by Bickers.
A near fine dark blue hardback with leather spine and corners. With gilt borders, raised bands, and tooled gilt decoration. Blue cloth over boards. Binding is tight and firm, with some rubbing. Some very slight sun fading to leather at the top of the rear cover near spine. The spine is slightly sunned also.
The text block itself is solid, and is bright and clean throughout, with gilt top edge. A Child's Garden is preceded with a frontispiece portrait of Alison Cunningham (Stevenson's nurse, to whom he dedicated the original publication of the book), with her facsimile signature. A handsome volume.
