Published by Frederick Warne and Co., London and New York. Undated, but from appearances and Worldcat (approximate date), c. 1890. An uncommon edition with photographs. Presumed first edition thus.

A good blue cloth hardback with gilt decoration. Some signs of wear and bumping with cloth worn at head and tail of spine. Black paper endpapers are cracked at joint and book is a little wobbly at spine. 

The text is bright and the plates are lovely. Frontispiece portrait with tissue guard. Some age spotting to endpapers and titles, but otherwise text is very clean. Shiny gilt edges to text block with one mark to lower edge.
