Sir Roger De Coverley by The Spectator, 1851
Sir Roger De Coverley by The Spectator. The Notes and Illustrations by W. Henry Wills (there are no illustrations included in this version).
De Coverley was a fictional character devised by The Spectator, a rather ridiculous English Tory country squire character.
Published by Longman, Brown, Green and Longmans, 1851. Bound by Maclehose of Glasgow.
A very good hardback with attractive leather spine and corners with marbled boards. Raised bands and gilt titles. Some bumping to corners and rubbing to boards.
Text is firmly bound and is nice and bright throughout, with some staining to top fee centimetres up to p10. Otherwise a most handsome volume. Unusual to find in such a nice binding.
