Sketches of the Character, Institutions, and Customs of the Highlanders of Scotland, Major-General David Stewart, 1885
Sketches of the Character, Institutions, and Customs of the Highlanders of Scotland, Major-General David Stewart of Garth. New edition.
Published by A & W Mackenzie, Inverness; Simpkin, Marshall & Co., London; John Menzies & Co., Edinburgh, 1885.
A poor brown cloth hardback - everything is present, but with binding issues. The brown linen cover is marked and worn. The inner joints are completely split open, and the text block is only attached to the covers by some webbing. The text block remains bound to the rear. The gatherings of text are just bound together at the moment, but are fragile and loose. The book needs restoration.
Text is bright and clean throughout with spotting to edge of text block. A scarce early edition that needs a loving home.
