Very good half leather hardback with the year's content of Sunday Magazine. Published between 1864 and 1905, this was a weekly evangelical journal containing short stories, poetry, serialised novels and other articles, all promoting Christian morality and virtue.
The black leather is very good, with chagrin style cloth cover, and rubbing and wear to boards. Binding is nice and firm. Text is clean. Illustrated throughout. Raised bands, gilt and title label to spine. Some cracking to rear endpaper, but binding still sound. Some spotting to endpapers.
viii + 860pp + 68pp Christmas Story. The Christmas Story in this book is “The Doctor’s Dozen” by Evelyn Everett-Green, author of “Barbara’s Brothers,” “The Secret of the Old House,” &c.
