(The Holy Bible of the Old Testament, or the Canonical Books of the Prisca Jewish Church Delivered by God, recently made into Latin out of the Hebrew, with brief, illustrated by the Scholias by Immanuel Tremmellius and Francisco Junius. There came the books commonly called the Apocrypha, rendered in Latin, and with certain notes augmented by Francis Junius. All of them much more thoroughly edited than before, and enlarged in innumerable places: to which we have also added the books of the New Testament from the Syriac language by the same Tremelli, and translated from the Greek into Latin by Theodore Beza, and also known and illustrated. The fourth care of Francis Junio before his death. With Index to Notes V.T. threefold, in Hebrew, Greek, and Latin).

Published Sumptibus Matthaei Berjon, Geneve, MDCXVII (Matthaei Berjon, Geneva, 1617). Uncommon.

A fair copy of this early 17th Century Bible, in need of some restoration work, but which is very possible.

In period full calf leather binding. Leather is worn, bumped and scuffed. front cover is completely detached, and the rear cover is only loosely attached via binding cord. Wear to the spine is substantial, with losses. With red morocco label with gilt to spine. Some previous owner's marks to title.

The first 6 leaves are completely detached, and worn to extremities, with creasing. After that the text block is intact and is largely in good condition. There is some damp staining, age toning to extremities, and scattered spotting, but for a book of this age, it is in very legible condition, and presents well. A far from perfect copy, but priced accordingly.
