SOLD

Printed for G. Nicol, Bookseller to His Majesty in Pall Mall and G.G.J. and J. Robinson, Pater-Noster Row, London 1788. 1st edition.

A good copy of this scarce book. Leather spine and corners. Extremities frayed and bumped. Some chipped leather loss and cracking down edges of spine, but also still firmly bound. Text block has been rebound to original binding at some stage in the past (not recent). Ex library - Copper plate 'Montrose Library' name written to inside front cover. A few professional paper repairs to strengthen the edge of the first few pages, and more substantial paper repairs to last few Appendix pages. There is some water staining affecting pages 440 onwards to the end. This varies from small spotting in the gutters to much more substantial stains, but text remains full legible. Text is otherwise good throughout. Occasional pencil annotation, light spotting and age wear. An imperfect copy, but still a desirable and rare tome.

No frontispiece, xvi + 527pp.

Dimensions: Approximately 275mm high  x 235mm wide x 50mm deep.
