Henry Morton Stanley (1841-1904) was a famous Welsh-American explorer, soldier, journalist and author most famous for his expedition to search for Dr Livingstone, the missionary and explorer, in Central Africa. His explorations also led him to seek the source of Nile and Congo rivers.

A very good hardback with leather spine and corners. Raised bands with gilt decoration. Blue leather (faded to spine, and with a fade mark to front) and marbled paper over boards. Some shelf wear and rubbing. Small indentation to top edge of front cover. Previous owner's signature in pencil to endpaper. Some offsetting to endpapers opposite leather corners.
Text is in near fine condition - bright, clean and soundly bound. Some markings from an adhesion on p1. Gilt top edge. An unusual and attractive custom binding of this publication.
