The book also contains a few anecdotes regarding Robert Burns.

A hardback with black leather spine and corners. The spine with lightly raised bands, blind stamped tooling, and rubbed gilt decoration. With gilt burgundy title label. Boards with paper which is heavily rubbed and scuffed and mostly absent from the front board. Covers bumped, worn and a little skewed.

Endpapers with previous owners’ details - the earliest being a ‘Robert Barr’ from 1880.

Text pages are loosening at the gutter with some sections standing proud and uneven. Gaps are visible at gutters and some light scattered spotting throughout, as well as age-related wear. Some text pages are absent (see collation), but despite the imperfect state, a still desirable copy of this very scarce volume.
