The September Massacres of 1792 were among the most shocking episodes of the French Revolution. As fear and unrest spread through Paris, revolutionary crowds entered the city's prisons and killed more than a thousand prisoners. In this compelling work, the French historian G. Lenotre reconstructs the events through the personal testimonies of survivors, supplemented by previously unpublished police reports. Together, these accounts provide a vivid insight into one of the Revolution's darkest chapters and the violence that helped usher in the Reign of Terror.

The September Massacres; Accounts of Personal Experiences written by some of the few Survivors of the Terrible Days of September 2nd and 3rd, 1792, together with a Series of Hitherto Unpublished Police Reports, by G. Lenotre - Written by Louis Léon Théodore Gosselin (1855-1935), the French historian and playwright better known by his pen name, G. Lenotre.
