1st edition.

Very desirable and important large volume.
Very good condition. This volume has had professional repair to strengthen joint (original endpapers retained) – the original binding of this book has never really been adequate to cope with the weight of the pages. Remnants of glueing visible of previously removed bookplate on inside rear cover.
Published Benn Brothers, London, 1923.
Brown cloth cover over boards, with gold lettering to spine and gold motif to centre of cover. Very good overall - minor bumping to extremities and slight fading to gold lettering of printer's name at bottom of spine. Some discoloration to endpapers as expected and minor discoloration to edges of text pages. Plates clean and bright.
Dimensions:
290mm high x 235mm wide x 52mm deep
Note: Previously owned by William Crozier (bookplate), Chief of Ordnance of the US Army 1901; bequeathed the valuable Crozier Collection of crystal, porcelain and ceramics to the Philadephia Museum.
