The Young Ladies Treasure Book; A complete Cyclopaedia of Practical instruction and Direction for All Indoor and Outdoor Occupations and Amusements Suitable for Young Ladies). Profusely Illustrated with Wood Engravings and Coloured Plates.
Published by Ward, Lock & Co., London and New York. British Printing. Possible First edition, but no date listed. We have seen other copies of this book previously and none carried a publication date. It appears to have been published in a few different colour variants to the cover. Circa 1880 from appearances (and we have previously seen an inscribed copy, with an owner's date of 1882). Worldcat suggests dates of 1870 and 1884, but those are approximations. Scarce - approximately 18 print copies listed by Worldcat in institutions worldwide.
A good cloth hardback in original publisher's binding, professionally rebacked on boards. Covers with wear, bumping and scuffs. Now soundly bound. With original endpapers - worn and frayed. Colour frontispiece with taped repair to rear, and facing original tissue guard is damaged. Some edge wear to pages near front.
All pages appear to be included, and the coloured plates are present all as called for. Text is bright and clean throughout, making for an interesting and attractive read.
