A good set of black cloth hardbacks with gilt title to spine. Outer covers have shelf wear marks and scratches. Text is clean internally, but with spotting to edge of text blocks. The binding has a little give in it at the spine - quite common with these books, which were still being produced "in complete accordance with the authorized economy standards" designed to reduce expenditure post-war. Red pages edges to top of text block, although rather faded. No splitting at endpaper joints.
